Fast and reliable supply for dealers and end customers with all the necessary spare parts is an essential element of the KRONE service concept. This service is indispensable, especially during harvest time, and has contributed significantly to the success of the KRONE brand. Due to the continuous expansion of the product portfolio, the number of items has also grown to more than 120,000.
Because of this, KRONE invested about 45 million euro in a new spare parts and logistics centre at the Spelle location, which has enormously improved the global supply of spare and wear parts since mid 2024. This brings KRONE's capacity to deliver services from the plant through to the field into a whole new dimension.
In this first construction phase, a 24,000 m² building complex has been constructed on a property covering 7.2 hectares in line with the requirements of the KfW 40 energy efficiency standard, with various storage areas for more than 65,000 different articles. That includes automatic high-bay storage covering roughly 3600 m² with three aisles 155 m long. The rack system in these aisles is 25 m high and provides 21,600 storage spaces for standard pallets and lattice boxes that are moved quickly at speeds of up to 3 m/s by three rack storage and retrieval devices.
The largely automated storage system mainly follows the goods-to-person principle, with 93% of the dispatched articles being made available to employees for removal from storage containers.
The "Autostore" for small parts covers an area of 1320 m² and equipped with four ports for incoming goods and five for outgoing goods for 24/7 operation. This area has space for up to 51,000 compact storage containers. Up to 16 boxes can be stacked on top of one another here and selected for removal fully automatically by 15 robots.
